Day 9 - Truth Challenge

I started this challenge 4 years ago. I got through Day 8 and stopped. I'm not sure why I haven't been able to consistently blog over the last few years, but I guess it's never too late to start again. Maybe it's because I've been through so much and sometimes putting it down in writing is too hard. Which leads me to Day 9 challenge.... Someone that you didn't want to let go, but has drifted away.   Here we go....

To be honest, I can't be honest. I can tell a basic summary of the story but I prefer to leave the name anonymous. Let's just call the person "Brat".

Brat and I were discussing a very serious matter. A plan was established and emotional support provided. Within a few days the plan started to change, not by my choice. Someone else who I believed was immature and vindictive swayed Brat into a different plan.  Brat tells me she isn't going to act on the plan, yet days later that plan had basically been completed although not exactly the same way. I believe Brat lied to me and told me what she thought I wanted to hear. In my heart I know what she did and it pains me. She could never tell me the truth no matter how many flaws I found in her story. So, I decided it was time to cut ties. I decided I didn't want to support a liar.

That was two years ago. We haven't spoken but maybe 3 times since and only because we were almost forced to by the situation.

Just this month I learned she has exciting news. But, I can't share that with her be Brat is so stubborn and won't come down off her high horse and apologize or admit to lying. So, I can't share the excitement with her. I refuse to apologize first because Brat needs to be mature enough to come to terms with her problems. I guess you could call it tough love.

I hate that we drifted. It is what it is. I'm hopeful Brat will grow up soon and this will be over.
